Licences are not adoption: making Microsoft 365 pay off
Organisations pay for capability their people never use. Adoption is a leadership and change problem as much as a technical one.

Many organisations have invested in Microsoft 365 and still run on email attachments, printed forms and spreadsheets passed from desk to desk. The licences are there; the change is not.
Start with leaders
People follow what their leaders model. Programmes that begin with digital-transformation leadership — why the change matters and what good looks like — make the practical training that follows far more effective.
Make training practical
Short, hands-on sessions built around real tasks — scheduling, sharing documents, running meetings, managing files — create confidence faster than feature tours.
Adoption is measured in changed habits, not completed courses.
Plan for resistance
Treat the roll-out as a change programme: identify champions, listen to concerns and follow up after training. In 2025 DET delivered this approach to 550 principals, supervisors and support staff across five Northern Cape districts.
